Jim Turner - BiographyIn over 25 years as an acclaimed guitar and harmonica player, Jim Turner has shared the stage with such greats as Paul McCartney, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Dave Mason, Taj Mahal, Nell Carter and G.E. Smith, among others, both as a solo performer and with his band—The Jim Turner Band. He has also appeared in musicals, both on and off Broadway.
Whether playing solo or with his band, Jim Turner currently appears at over 200 engagements a year, in concert halls, nightclubs, musical theaters, music festivals, private parties, weddings, colleges, schools and libraries, benefits and special events. He also plays on and produces studio recordings. He has appeared, written songs for and played on local and nationally broadcast television and radio programs and commercials.
Jim Turner is a certified Arts-in-Education performer, who conducts workshops and concerts in public and private schools. He also plays his unique trademark children’s participatory rock concerts and parties — "Jam with Jim."

Jim Turner, playing solo or with his band, has played at all the popular music venues on the East End of Long Island and many in New York City. Those venues include The Stephen Talkhouse, Guild Hall, Bay Street Theatre and The Parrish Art Museum on Long Island and The Broadway Theater, The New York Shakespeare Festival and C.B.G.B.’s in New York City.
His repertoire of rock’n’roll, blues, folk, jazz, reggae, swing, country, gospel, world avant-garde and Celtic music includes over 2,000 songs.
Jim was raised on rock‘n’roll, blues, folk, jazz, Broadway and classical music. He was introduced to the guitar and harmonica while in his teens and was soon out playing in coffee houses in Greenwich Village and in clubs throughout the New York area.
Jim Turner’s music reflects the rocking tempos and rhythms of city life, an appreciation for the simple pleasures of life in the country and by the sea, and a love of music of all styles.
